Most of the early issues of the comic had a backup feature at the back, the early ones were a summary of the history of the DC universe, whilst later on there were two-page summaries of the up-to-date (at the time) origins of the characters. Issue 36 has a great version of Pee Gee’s origin, it’s worth tracking down if you’ve not already seen it.
But I’m not going to talk about what’s in the comics but instead a missed opportunity from the series.
In 52 Lex Luthor creates the Everyman project, a way to give, and revealed (to use) in issue #35 to take them away. This is it seems to get powers of his own, but the scientists that have been doing to work have been hiding the fact that Lex can be enhanced with the drugs used. None of this is important to use right now, as Luthor takes a few of the empowered to form a new team, taking a name from an old obsolete team, Infinity Inc!
Now unless you’ve not been paying attention to this blog, and I wouldn’t blame you too be honest, Power Girl has a long history with Infinity Inc she joined the team in issue #1, acting as one of the mentors with Huntress, staying with them until issue #12 (though this isn’t quite as impressive at it’s all one story). She came back for six more issues (#21, #22, #24, #25, #27, and #30), which included the final issue (#30). Ironically though they were really done dirty by the Crisis on Infinite Earths, anything Legacy, especially Earth-2 was on a losing streak. Really the only character that did alright out of the Crisis was… Power Girl.
All this is to say that really there should have been a scene where Pee Gee either confronts Lex, or Natasha Irons (Steel’s niece) or has been stripped of her Steel armor by Henry to try and teach her some more responsibility. Then we could have had Pee Gee go on about the deeds that the original Infinity, Inc did, especially as she’s recently gotten her memories back about the pre-Crisis days. You could have had it be the worm of doubt put in Natasha’s mind about maybe this version of Infinity, Inc isn’t on the limit.
But alas we didn’t get this, so I guess on to the ones…
