We start we Helena asleep in a isolated cabin in Catskills, apparently not that isolated as she has to escape the cabin as it’s set on fire. This seems to have put her on edge as when she meets up with Kara in borrowed clothes, at Woodstock, she gets snippy and dumps her ice cream when Pee Gee uses her superspeed to catch the drop scoop. The stop at a roadside fortune teller, because apparently there a thing, and in a nice change Helena seems to pay it at least some heed. Not that I believe they’re a real thing in our universe, but in the DC Universe with a literal angels and demons running around it nice to see that some self awareness in universe. When Huntress uses that prediction of darkness to go it alone Kara insists that she’ll never be alone and they hug and make up until flying away (with Kara holding a massive teddy , not important but it’s worth mentioning! )

Meanwhile DeSaad send’s his troops to capture equipment from Starr Industries Oxford offices, though why he needs to do this as he technically own the place but y’know maybe he want to keep his troops in practice. We get a rare moments of a US writer remembering something about the UK, that our coppers aren’t armed, as DeSaad’s troops start to try and gun them down, until Pee Gee turns up to deflect the attack. She then drops a helicopter, there’s to be fair, on top on them. Huntress meanwhile is inside the building and rescues a scientist from one of the troops.

There combined efforts obviously attract attention as Parademons are sent to stop them, with Pee Gee obviously knowing what they are, and in a touch I always like take time to make sure civilians are safe but catching debris and basically just shouting a warning!

We then get an extended scene of Pee Gee leading these Parademons on a merry chase, with the occasional cutaway of Huntress fighting one of her own. Pee Gee being well herself finishes her first and goes to help Huntress, only to chase after her when she, and the Parademon enter a Boom Tube.

It’s weird very little happens, and it’s a breezy read, but that doesn’t make it bad. Its an effective way to move the story from A to B and we seem to be moving on towards the end of the story. How someone reading at the time would have felt about a story thats taken over a year to play out is a question for those that remember that time (yes I was reading, but I don’t remember any feelings good or bad). It’s not a terrible comic, and I enjoy how efficent the two friends are, ut in truth it’s a flyover comic leading onwards and upwards to (hopefully) bigger and better things!
