After the events of the last few issues Helena and Kara are trying to find information about DeSaad’s plan for Starr Industries, that apparently Holt has taken over.
Both are doing it in there own unique manner, Huntress is questioning someone on the The Secretaries Exchange Commission, whilst Power Girl is hunting for documents. We get a cute little scene where security tries to take Pee Gee down whilst she pays them no real heed with a “Busy” whilst throwing something metal at them. She find the documents and finds Huntress, declaring a win on finding the information first, but the mention of DeSaad has put the woman she was questioning into a fugue state and apparently summoned a massive demon dog to take our two heroes down. It’s apparently fairly smart calling Pee Gee stupid when she calls him a bad doggie!
After a quick round of punches they flee the scene to a apparent safe house nearby. But we have a quick cutaway of DeSaad brainwashing someone for his nefarious means.
At the safehouse we have a short cute little scene with our two heroes eating ice cream whilst Pee Gee chides Huntress on the stuffy old fashion furniture of the place, whilst Huntress seems to be a little hurt at her favourite home. Which obviously means that at that moment the big dog burst through the window to attack the pair. PeeGee then has a quick smackdown, whilst we cut back to DeSaad who’s made his brainwashed victim into some kind of hulking beast.
The fight between PeeGee and the dog spill onto the street, whilst Huntress tries to figure out how to help the fight, spotting a power plant she get’s Kara to bait the beast to the site before wrapping it in wires and using a arrow to electrocute the beast. PeeGee is worried that she’s getting weaker, because she couldn’t beat the beast, but Huntress just points out that DeSaad probably has other things setup to hunt them down.
This is a slight story, setting up the next part of the plot, not a lot happens but it’s not badly told. It’s one of those issues that I’d guess plays out differently week to week to being collected. Collected its just a breather before the next issue, whilst if you had to wait a month for the next it might be a little frustrating. For someone who’s had a little time off, its more a gentle reintroduction to the characters before getting to the more important parts of the tale!
